Our 10 Core Values

Our work is anchored on several international legislations such as the UN Universal Declaration on Human Rights (UDHR), the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women, The Paris Declaration, The Paris Climate Accord, and commitments such as the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), and the Sustainable Development Goals; as well as several national legislations such as Women Act 2010, the Children’s Act, the Local Government Act, the Elections Act, among others. We are further guided by The Gambia Education Policy, National Nutrition Policy, the Youth Policy, etc. To meet our objectives, FIOHTG is currently working within three broad development areas;
FIOHTG knows that partnership and networking is important to strengthen the development work we do. FIOHTG thus works closely with governmental institutions such as MoBSE, MECCNAR, Department of Community Development, local governments; and international organisations within the UN system and foreign missions in the country. We also work with NGOs either directly or through TANGO (The Association of Non-Governmental Organisations in the Gambia) in planning or implementing projects for poverty alleviation. Partnership with other civil society organisations are very important for us in our drive to enhance accountability, transparency and sustainability in our development work.
