Future In Our Hands The Gambia through its Food for Education Project (NDOKK-FFE) has conducted a one- day sensitisation on importance of education held at Regional Education Directorate in Region 2 in Brikama and Sibanor LBS.
The event drawn participants from the Mother’s club, School Management Committee (SMC) and VDC amongst others.
The goal of the activity was to engage and sensitize parents in creating a supportive environment that promotes education for their children, with a focus on encouraging extra reading practice at home. It also envisage to foster collaboration and trust between parents and the school authority.
Fatou M. Cham INSET Focal Person at Sibanor and Seedy Ceesay, INSET Focal Person at Brikama expressed gratitude to FIOHTG for organizing this important activity. They encouraged parents to enrol their children in school, actively monitor their children education and provide support to teachers in the realization of their children education to attain quality education.
Jainaba Jabang, Almamo Jabbi Education Field Officers at FIOHTG, gave an overview of the Project, they said The Food for Education Project is a five- year project funded by USDA which aims to improve literacy of the school aged children and increased dietary health practices.
The duo brief parents on myriad of enrollment, retention, completion and parental support.
A similar activity is expected to be rolled out in CRR(North and South) and NBR respectively.
