Future In Our Hands The Gambia (FIOHTG) on Thursday, September 3rd, 2026, signed a contract agreement with The Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) for consultancy services on HIV/AIDS/STI Awareness, Road Safety, and Gender Issues under the Gambia Ports Authority Banjul Port 4th Expansion Project.
The project is funded by the African Development Bank Group (AfDB).
The contract signing ceremony, which took place in Banjul, was a significant step toward enhancing social consciousness, community involvement, and responsible behavior during the port expansion project’s implementation.
FIOHTG will support the implementation of programs aimed at increasing awareness of HIV/AIDS and STI prevention, road safety, gender equality, and social inclusion within the project.
The collaboration between FIOHTG and GPA emphasizes the importance of incorporating social inclusion, gender equality, safety, and health into significant infrastructure development projects. The effort aims to make the area surrounding the Banjul Port development safer, more welcoming, and socially conscious by combining awareness-raising, community involvement, and capacity building.
